At Eat Well Health, we help people improve their lives through good nutrition.

We believe good nutrition support should be easy to access. That is why we have built an online service that brings together a quick nutrition screening questionnaire, telehealth consultations with a dietitian where needed, and a range of nutrition products.

Our nutrition products are fully funded for eligible Support at Home clients, with no co-contribution required. We work with Support at Home providers so that eligible clients can use that funding without the paperwork getting in the way.

Our Story: A Systems Solution to a Personal Problem

My name is Andrew Martin, and I founded Eat Well Health to solve a persistent breakdown in the Australian aged care system: the gap between identifying a nutrition need and actually delivering support into the home.

The inspiration for the business was deeply personal. While navigating the aged care system for my own mother, I saw firsthand that even when a nutrition need is clear, administrative friction often stops the solution from reaching the person who needs it.

With a background in accounting and corporate finance, I viewed this not just as a clinical problem, but as a systems problem. For many older Australians and their families, nutrition support sits in the "too hard" basket. The number of steps involved (appointments, written referrals and claiming paperwork) can delay support, and delay can lead to an avoidable decline in health.

Solving the Friction

Since joining Optimal Essentials five years ago, I have focused on bringing better systems and technology to nutrition support for older Australians. We developed Eat Well Health to make that support simpler to reach. Paper-based steps have been replaced with a quick online screening questionnaire developed by Australian dietitians, with product recommendations made under a nutrition support protocol developed and overseen by an Accredited Practising Dietitian. Anyone who would like personal advice can book a telehealth consultation with one of our dietitians.

Our Mission

We are more than a product supplier. We are a service designed to make sure no older Australian's nutrition needs fall through the cracks. We believe that:

  • Meals matter, and we always put food first. For many older Australians, though, meals alone aren't always enough, particularly when appetite is low, after an illness, or when finishing a full meal is hard. Our nutrition products sit alongside meals, never instead of them.
  • Paperwork should support care, not hold it up. We handle the invoicing and provide the documentation that supports eligibility for 0% out-of-pocket funding.
  • Access matters. Our screening questionnaire costs nothing to complete and is available to anyone in Australia, including in regional and rural areas.

We want to make a meaningful difference to the nutrition of older Australians. By bringing better systems to nutrition care, we are working towards a future where every older Australian can easily access nutrition screening and the support that follows.
